Open the calendar from the calendar icon at the top of the home screen, or from the Appointments card on a dog's profile. It has three views — List, Week, Month — and shows more than appointments: searches and evaluations appear too. You can filter by dog and by content.
Creating an appointment
Every appointment needs a dog and a category; the title is optional and is filled in from the category and sub-type until you type your own. Nine categories are built in — vet appointment, vaccination, treatment, grooming, competition/trial, training event, health screening, reproductive health, birthday — and you can add your own. Vaccination, treatment and reproductive health also have sub-types that bring a sensible repeat interval with them (rabies three years, worming 90 days, flea and tick 30 days).
Repeats
Appointments repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, each with an interval; weekly lets you pick individual weekdays, monthly either a day of the month or a particular weekday. A series ends never, on a date, or after a number of occurrences, with a preview of the last one. When you edit or delete an appointment that belongs to a series, the app asks about scope: this one only, this and following, or all in the series.
Connecting to the phone calendar
Syncing with the device calendar is off until you turn it on, and even then no category is synced until you tick one. It needs permission to read and write the calendar; the app touches the entries it created itself – and, to recognise a series split “this and following” in the calendar app, reads recurring entries with the series’ title or that the calendar marks as its continuation.
The connection runs in both directions: KynoPlan writes appointments into the calendar you chose, and on each sync reads back the title, description and start time, along with individual cancelled or moved occurrences. If you delete an entry in your calendar app, the link is cleared. When you switch syncing off, KynoPlan asks whether to remove the entries from the device or keep them there.
Import and export
Appointments can be exported as an iCal file (.ics), filtered by dog and category, with a whole series written as one entry carrying a repeat rule. On import, a staging step walks you through the file so you can assign a dog, category and sub-type to each entry, or skip it.
